Growth Opportunities

I was at a place in my life a year and a half ago where I worried a lot about what was going to happen in my life.  Particularly my messy love life.  Anxiety would overcome me - pounding heart, irrational thinking, hard time sleeping... During that time I lost about 10-15 pounds.  I was like a stick!  Luckily, I learned how to deal with it and overcome it.  I eventually gained the weight back, and to be on the safe side, I added 5 more pounds on top of it.

There are still times when I feel the panic coming back.  My heart will start beating a little faster, and I worry about things that are really out of my control.  In these moments I stop and say, "God has a plan for me."  And this is what makes me feel better.  Because I know it is true.

This race that we run, our daily lives, is not an easy one.  But we have Someone who is leading us.

In my devotional, Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, it says for today, January 22, "Anything that tends to make you anxious is a growth opportunity.  Instead of running away from these challenges, embrace them, eager to gain all the blessings I have hidden in the difficulties."

Help me grow, God.  I need You.  During this difficult time, I know that You have a plan.  Lead me, guide me, and bless me with that plan.  Amen.

Servant Leader

"The greatest leader is a servant leader.  Don't be a boss.  Be a real leader, a servant leader.  A servant leader is a winner.  Even when when he loses everything, even when he loses his life, a servant leader wins it all." -Pat Williams, senior vice president of the Orlando Magic
